Just put the resistor between the two wires coming out of the spoiler :

You splice the wires prior to the connector and run a resistor from the black to the red. Don't cut the wires, just add in the resistor. I can get you the rating on the resistor when I look tomorrow.

prior to the connector? does a aftermarket ss spoiler that comes withthe brake light have the connector and just connects right up like stock? also prior as in the spoiler side or the side connects to car(if that makes since)? sweet take some pics if you can. i keep getting lost about this whole issue

Eh, I've got nothing better to do.

            I've got a 25W, 27ohm resistor.

where can i get one of those at? so i see you just connect a wire between the 2 wires leading to the brake light and then in that wire tap just add in the resistor?

Yes. I got it at a local small electronics store. Radio shack or similar should carry them.

so what do you put around the resistor to protect it and make sure that it doesn't short out? Would a relay like the one shown in the diagram be a better option?

nevermind, I read the shobox diag. different resistance with the leds... thats crazy... thanks for someone bumping this one up, I would of freaked out when I installed my SS next week.

                      Electrical tape will be fine.

FYI guys: This does NOT apply to everyone. My SS spoiler does NOT need the resistor, my ABS light stays off without it. However, right now I have my stock spoiler on with plug in LED lights, which DO need the resistor, which is why I could take that picture. It depends on what the configuration of the light bar is in your spoiler.

well right now I have a wings west ss spoiler with led bar. I didn't notice if my light went on as a result of the install, but want to do this anyways to make sure that the abs doesn't act up as a result.... sound ok to you? How will i know if i need it

                          Re: SS Spoiler install

There's nothing wrong with preventative maintenance. The way to test would be to measure the resistance across the circuit and compare to the threshold in the cars wiring that would trigger the light. Unfortunately I don't know that number, so it's mostly a matter of whether or not the light comes on.

Preventative is the way I roll. Anyways, right now the light is on. The light has always been intermitent, so I never know. I think that I will go ahead and install it. What do you recomend for covering the resistor? Tape?
