I've known many people to crosstrain and hung out with other career fields, including EOD, have family members retire and about to retire and I swear you are the first person in the A.F. that I've ever heard of to say they work hard. Hell, even when I worked 12-14 hour shifts for 3 months straight with no days off after 9-11 I didn't work hard, just long hours.

Dont get me wrong, you have a very nice collection of material things that I do wish I had but lets call things like they are. I could go around and say I was the lead flight controls technician on deployments of $30,000,000.00 aircraft or I could say I worked on planes.
I never said my job was hard, I said I worked hard. Just to give you a little background, at 16 I went to school and worked two jobs just to pay my insurance on my first vette. Then in the military I took deployments just to help pay for the toys I wanted. Now with this new vette, I am leaving on another deployment, and when I get back I am taking up another job (plus college) to help pay off my new vette twice as fast, so once the new camaros converts come out I can own one.

stevethepirate if you were my kid I would give them both to you, but since you are not... sorry! I hope to have a few kids and all will get at least one corvette.

RyanAndyBob as to who bought, it was more like the wife let me buy it.

I guess I am lucky there. The military pays for my college. I only pay for books and if I fail the class.

Heres my background, at 16 I moved out, got my own place, worked 50+ hours a week as a manager of a pizza store, went to school, graduated with a 3.42 and still had and went to partys like a normal high school kid. Then I joined the military the night I graduated from high school. I went on all deployments and TDY's because thats what I volunteered for when I joined

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad your in the A.F. and I wish you a safe trip to Iraq and to comeback as soon as your job is done there. If your gonna make a career out of it then by all means do it. I served my country and got out. I just think maybe you should look at other peoples choices and really ask yourself if you work hard or have it pretty easy. I like to think back on those that came before us and gave us our rights and maintained our rights and how hard they had to work for it. In 20 years people look back at these times and say we had it harder than they do.

I probably shouldn't say you havn't worked hard because people look at things differently and have diffrent opinions. My opinion is people in general don't work hard anymore. I beleive in hard work and doing what needs done not what'll get by. I'm not saying people dont work hard and that people on this board or other places don't work hard, just that has a society, the american people dont work hard and most really beleive in their own head they do. If people worked hard I think the obecity level in the U.S.A. would be down just a lil.

i agree with this guy

They call it the "Chair force" for a reason, cuz you guys sit around all day unless your a fighter pilot. My buddy is in the Air force and he says he doesnt do jack, when he works they just sit around. He's getting college paid for and he doesnt care about it as a result, his gpa is like a 2.0 he's goin to Iraq in a couple weeks, i love the kid to death and pray for a safe return, but he's just gonna be wankin it all day and bein paid up the *** to do it.

Dont get me wrong, i was thinkin bout joinin the air force too, but just to put it out there, its ****in easy.

Oh ya and pilots do sit in chairs all day, they have there pre-flight chair, the cockpit chair, and post-flight chair. They have the easy jobs.:p

Glad you got to him before I did. Its one thing for me to say something being in and on flightline but its another thing for him to say something. Its kinda like brothers beating the **** out of each other but then nobody else better lay a hand on either of them or both brothers gonna mop the floor with them.

Well I did do it and I can tell you I actually LOL in basic the first few days. It was a joke. Oh no, something got in my face and called me a pudwacking pansey. Are you serious? It was just alot of marching around to get in processed to the air force and folding clothes, I mean attention to detail. It was funny how people actually broke down and cried because they got yelled at. What schmuks, anyways after a few hundred pushups for laughing I cut that out cause honestly it sucked and I just played their game.
