i was painting the black trim on the front a darker black, and i overspraed a little, so i wetsanded off the overspray with 2000 grit, and the wetsanding took off some clearcoat. so i decided just to spray the whole front bumper with a light coat. it looked like crap so i let that dry and wetsanded that coat off (most of it, it was real sticky) and did another light coat. let that flash and did it agen, real heavy bacause i was panicing bacause i felt like i killed my car, bacause it wasnt shiny anymore. and that coat had lots of runs. can i still save it? what shound i do? im haveing a bad day.

Re: i messed up my clearcoat real bad.
heh..
First off, when you got overspray on the car, you shouldn't have paniced, and just got some paint thinner and a rag. It would have wiped right off.
But now that your at this point, I have a couple questions before I tell you what you should do.
Is the paint fairly even, besides the runs (hopefully minimal?)
Does it look pretty decent besides the fact that it's not shiny?
Was your front bumper chipped to hell to begin with? (is it really worth saving)

Re: i messed up my clearcoat real bad.
Runs can be a b!tch to get rid of without eating through the clear coat around it, but it's possible with enough care.
let me link you to a post I made on the other site on colorsanding
