Please tell me that those are those bunk-assed Sony Xplod speakers in the doors! The name serves them right...mine were Xploded from the day that I purchased the damn things. And once I got them in, I didn't feel like going through the hassle of taking them back out. And the train layout in the background...what scale is that? N? Just curious mainly because my dad collects trains (that's where my college fund went, lol).

Very thin, water based dye. Good stuff. I worked with it at the dealership I worked at. And yeah, those are xplods...back in high school it was all I had $$$ for, and it was better than nothing...mine are still intact...that a small N-gauge layout I built for my grandparents around christmas, and they decided to leave it up... my great grandfather used to collect too....when he passed away, his collection was appraised at over $3 million...

I wasnt doggin on ya about your speakers....I was just hoping that you had better luck with yours is all. As for my dads trains...(not that I'm wanting to rush things) but when he does pass on, I'm kinda up in the air as to what I'm gonna do with them. I'd sure like a new vette....lol. Or possibly a nice shop where I can work on my car. Decisions, decisions.

you got a name for that interior paint? whats all mixed into it? paint shop here doesnt have an idea on what Im talking about, but offered to sell me OEM dash paint.. but was a lil pricey. I too wanted the ebony interior... But thats another thing to add to the list. and this automagic, where did you purchase it?

Okay, to start, archer, I will have pics of those steering knuckles tommorrow. Sorry it took like a month.

To answer your questions, I used an aerosol Automagic Vinyl/Fabric dye.

It's No. 72, Color 72-02, Black.

I used that on all Vinyl and fabric...(Dash, Carpet...seats.)

As for interior paint, I tried the VHT at first, and didn't like the result. So I tried Duplicolor's new Interior/ Fabric dye...it's awesome stuff. Didn't try it on the fabric, used it for the plastic interior parts, (Sail Panels, Door Panels, Kick Panels...all of that. You can get this at any Advance Auto Retail Location.

The automagic is $8.50 a can and I used three. The Duplicolor is $5.47 a can, and I used...three as well.

Now. On to the Update.

I finally got some time outside of work for the first time in like two weeks to work on the car. Got everything wired, cleaned up, dried out, and started to put it back together. In the process of all this, I have decided to do an A4 - T5 swap. I'd rather replace a $300 clutch once a year than a $1200 transmission. I'm much too hard on the 4L60E anyway. So I won't be putting the seats on the Center Console back in just yet. As for what I have done, The MSD DIS-4 looks professional (I hope) and I put a new 12 disc CD Changer in, but the damn cartridge won't eject. I'll have to figure out how to work that. I also have the sail panels in and the kick panel on the pass. side. Have a look, and tell me what you think boys!

One question though:
Why did you mount the MSD box in the hatch area? Isn't it supposed to go under the hood or close to the firewall?

i have a question....does the paint u used on the panels scuff??or come off...and if they dont wat kind of paint did u used and wat prep work cuz mine always scuff unless u dyed urs??

One question though:
Why did you mount the MSD box in the hatch area? Isn't it supposed to go under the hood or close to the firewall?

According to MSD, you're supposed to mount the box as close to the source of power and the coils as possible. There's obviously some voltage lost due to a greater distance. I started the car up yesterday just to check exactly that, and there was nothing out of the ordinary. Car started fine, revved fine, idled fine. I checked the voltage going to the DIS-4, at the DIS-4 and it was still registering the same number I had at the battery, with no loss. So yes, you are supposed to mount the box under the hood or at the firewall, but given the space in our cars, I couldn't find any other place to do it except in the glove box, and I really didn't want to do that. It's still runs fine even with it being all the way back. And I thank you for your words of praise.

Anything will scuff on your interior if it's hard enough, but it will suff the plastic, not the paint...which in effect removes the paint. But no, the paint on my panels does not scuff with a fingernail or shoe or something like that. It doesn't flake or peel either. That's mainly because it's a dye, and not a paint per se...I started using a custom mix of VHT, but I didn't like it. I wound up using Duplicolor Fabric/Vinyl Dye on all of my panels. It works wonders. As for Prep, I used sprayed and scrubbed all panels with simple green to clean any dressing (most guys use Armor All, since it's oil based nothing will stick to it) off of the panels. Rinse them with water and let them AIR DRY. Then I used Duplicolor adhesion promoter to avoid any side effects from mixing brands together. Then, I applied two light coats of the dye, allowing each to dry to a tack in between coats. after that, let em dry a day or two, put on a coat of interior dressing, and they're ready to go back in the car.

As for a writeup, I am definetly going to make one, perhaps one of the mods will make it a sticky somewhere if it's good enough. Just gotta take a few more pictures and start typing. Keep tellin me what ya think boys. Thanks!
