24 watt led's question...please help.

ok I bought these hyperwhite leds for my marker light/turnsignals and i put them on, they're bright as hell, but they don't blink for some reason and ive heard that its cuz its such a low wattage it tricks the car into thinking there is a burnt bulb. so I don't know what to do. How can I make it blink with my blinker? thanks.

You need an electronic flasher unit.

And I assume you mean 24 LED bulb. There is certainly no LED cluster bulb that takes 24 watts.

this is the bulb I bought....it says 24w on the package...and it doesn't blink. what exactly is an electronic flasher? where can I get it? help me schlotzky...im a fellow oregonian!

I think that's just a model number, pointing out that it has 24 LEDs and is white.

Basically how a flasher works, is there is a little piece of metal that heats up when the bulb is activated, and cuts the power when it gets too hot. When it cools down it repeats the process. LEDs don't draw enough current to make the strip of metal get hot, so they don't always blink. Electronic ones do this on a circuit board instead, so load doesn't matter.

I'll see if I can find one that is for sure compatible.

It looks like there really isn't any special models for electronic flashers, just 2 and 3 prong. I replaced my flasher unit a while back and I remember it had 3 prongs, so something like this should work out for ya.

You might check out local autopart stores as well for the electronic flasher. Autozone and the like would normally have them in stock and that would probably be quicker and easier than ordering online.

Yours had 3 prongs? That's weird. Both my turn signal and hazard flasher relays were only 2 prongs.

Under the dash, pretty close in line with the steering wheel. It's a silver canister looking thing. Approx 3/4" to 1" tall.

You should be able to find one at autozone and the like, I've seen them. I haven't had a chance to get in my dash but from that pic, it looks like there is just the two wires going to it, so it very well may have been 2 prong. It was a while ago that I replaced it so it's a little fuzzy.
