couldnt u just take the actual boot itself off a grandprix or grand am, and use ur stock shifter? just use a tight zip tie maybe. anyone thought of using a boot for the parking brake?

Re: Shifter skirt on an Auto?

The main reason I used the Grand Prix knob was because without it the shift boot wouldn't stay up.

              As you can see here:

Between the top part of the shifter, and the bottom black piece, there is a small gap right there. The top of the shift boot is elastic and sits right in this space which keeps it from falling. With the stock shift knob, that wouldn't be possible.

Plus, with the GP shifter knob I get an extra button to hook up to something (was originally for turning overdrive on and off). Haven't used it yet, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it. Figure it would be good for using it to turn a Line Lock device on and off.

                            this is mine:
                            http://eden.rutgers.edu/~notsonic/boot.jpg

                            got it from here:
                            http://www.lightningautocustoms.com/...c_retrofit.htm

it was really easy to install, and it fits perfect with no extra material all over.
