  • Scratches and Dirt removal

I bought a new front bumper cover for my maro off craigslist. It's in better shape scratch wise than mine but it has like tiny scratches with like dirt caked into it. (hard to describe). I've tried everything I have to remove the stains. So far - Laquer thinner - Cleaning wax - Turtle wax rubbing compound - Bug and Tar - Meguirs clay kit. Anyone have any idea what i should do next? Wet sand on the clear coat?

I guess I'm not a perfectionist, but I say if you did all that and still can't get it, leave it the heck alone. Wait until you dent it on some old lady in a parking lot and have to take it to a body shop.

Is it a discoloration or actual surface dirt and scratches? Wetsanding is an option if nothing else is working, but I'd be very careful not to sand through the clear coat. Try some 1500, and see if any improvement is made.

I'll try the wetsand. I think its scratches because they feel rough when i run a fingernail over them.

Well, if it catches your fingernail, wetsanding won't do you much good. Probably looking at 2 options. Paint it or deal with it. Why not post a pic?
