  • firebird blackout ?

ok...so i did some searching on here and was getting mixed reviews on the whole blackout situation. so i was wondering if anybody had blackouts on their firebird and if they had any issues with keeping them on...i have seen lots talk for camaros but not so much the birds....and i havent found any clip on type blackouts for the birds...in fact i have only found one set of blackouts period...... http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku ......so i know probably a dumb topic since its been beat to death but i am curious....

I haven't heard as many stories of blackouts falling off of firebirds, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. If you're sure you want to keep the lights tinted, you can pick up a can of niteshades and put a tint on that you know won't come off. Quite a bit cheaper as well.

some people make it safer by putting 3m tape on them. I want to do this to my bird as well but i've read here about the lights warping due to the heat. Some people have used niteshade to blackout their lights...... its basically a spray on tint, search for that, you might be interested... good luck

I used to have those clip on black outs on my Firebird. They come with industrial strength velcro to help keep them on. Only time I've ever had them fall off was when going through a car wash. Otherwise never had them fall off. Was only pulled over once when I had them, cop just told me to take them off. I did have lots of people shout at me that my tail lights weren't working because of how dark they were with them. I would just suggest spraying your lights with VHT Nightshades. I never had any problems with the law or people not seeing my lights. Here's a pic of my car when I had them on:

Mine snap on and I live in the country... all sorts of bumpy roads and such... never had one fly off. In fact, the only time they have ever come off was when I was using a pressure washer one day and I caught the pressure in-between the light and cover, then it flew off. I like mine better then niteshade for the simple fact that if I ever wanna change the tails, I can just take them off.

where did you guys find your clip on blackouts? i haven't had any luck but maybe i am not trying hard enough....and i like the idea of being able to take them off just because cops get bored sometimes.....that and i live in the country also, so they are a must to stay on because its a half hour drive to the nearest town and an hour drive to the nearest movie theatre....too much road to search if one did fall off....not to mention the 6 hour drive to college when that starts back up again....

well i see avs kinda does them in two shades, black and smoke....guessing the smoke lets more light through? maybe not a bad idea if its still black enough to look good....and checked advance's website...didn't find any clip on style...the amazon link uses the velcro or tape or whatever....

I thinks that what they mean by clip on. Smoke does sound better than black. I'll have to make a trip down to autozone soon then!
