      Re: Steering wheel

First and foremost, disconnect the battery.
There are four bolts on the back of the steering wheel, I believe 7mm. Take those out, that will get the airbag. Disconnect it, and I believe there is just a few bolts left that hold on the wheel.

I do hope this is going to be on a dedicated race car.

        Re: Steering wheel

Disconnect the negative terminal on your battery. you could do both to be safe.

On the back of the wheel there are two torx t-25 starheads. Unscrew them and then pull the the airbag. Disconnect it. Now, holding the the steering wheel on is one large 13/16 nut. Unscrew it and save the nut. you'll need it for the new wheel. now hook the steering wheel puller up to the wheel and use it to remove the wheel. You'll also have to unhook your steering wheel radio control if you have them. There's also part of the SRS in the steering column, but I wouldn't worry about it.

I really advise against doing this, unless this is a track only car. And even then, the benefits are only marginal. If its track only, Just gut it.

resale value will plummet if it has no airbag as well. be prepared to put it back in if you ever plan on selling it.

Another thing, you will also have to inform your insurance company of the change. Failure do to so would result in insurance fraud, which is a federal offense.

Aw. I have some friends around here that worry about the same thing... Kinda scary really...

I've been hit with the airbag in my f-body before, It doesn't hurt that bad.

Sure, I looked like a coke addict for a couple days since the airbag pushed my sunglasses into my eyes, but it's the seatbelt that hurts. Lol. Of course, some airbags can do a hell of a number on folks.

I was actually more pissed at the fact that including doing $4,200 worth of damage to my car, the damn airbag broke my Limited Edition Oakley's. We won't talk about how much they were.
