Re: i need the molding delete
I like the trim/molding. It helps break up the side of the car. The previous owner of my red firebird painted the molding and the word "firebird" black on one side of the car. No idea why he only did one side, but I like it better painted too for contrast.

I do it this way, unless it's absolutely unreasonable.
Best way IMO is to get a hair dryer (do NOT use a heatgun), and mildly heat the area of the pinstripe. By only using a hair dryer, the most you will ever get the area to is ~250* F. This won't hurt the paint, but is hot enough to soften the adhesive on the pinstriping. I recommend shooting for a temp of around 180* F. Then using a PLASTIC razor blade (please for the sake of all of us do not use a metal one) carefully "scratch" away the pinstripe. Hold the blade at about a 20* angle relative to the body panel. That way it's sharp enough to pull the decal, but shallow enough to where it won't gouge your paint. TAKE YOUR TIME. Once the pinstripe is gone the clearcoat might be "ghosted" a little bit, you'll need to buff that area with a fine cut paint cleaner, and then step up to swirl remover, polishing compound, and then follow it with a coat of wax. That SHOULD get rid of alot of the ghosting.
The rest of it will clear with time as the color of the paint from under the pinstripe fades to match the car.
The other way to do it is using a type of enamel reducer to soften the clear coat and a buffing motion to remove it. DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCE WITH ENAMEL REDUCER AND ARE AN EXPERT ON AUTO DETAILING. If anyone has further interest in the second option, pm me for more info on it.

I really like and and dislike it. i am indefferent about the side molding. I have the Same color as you w/o the pinstripe. I dont really know how to feel about the molding. its gotta be different in person... i want to do it, but then i dont want to...
