I was wondering what some people have done (or ideas...) with deleting the antenna? I plan on filling the hole/shaving it but not sure what to do with the antenna.

I have one idea but wondering if it would work...when I was into Fieros I saw a guy on the Fiero forum shave the antenna hole but since the Fiero antenna is located on the front fender the guy just simply turn the mounting bracket sideways and hide the antenna in the fender and it still worked. Do you think this is possible with a Firebird (where does the antenna line run through...)??? Here is a link to the thread i'm talking about with the Fiero ---> http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/025998-3.html scroll down to see it

Or what other alternatives do I have that will have the antenna hidden but still work/good reception? Thank you

Sorry I personally want the look of a shaved antenna and plan on doing it sometime very soon so that is not an option. A lot of things could be considered a waste of time to a lot of people, but that is why it is an opinion .

I shaved the antenna on my truck and got one of those stick-on windshield antennas from Radio Shack. Worked awesome... and I lived in a remote area.

I also live in a remote area and my 84 GMC had one of those windshield antennas and that thing got GREAT signal strength. Better what than my friends who had real antennas did actually.

I got rid of the stock antenna on mine and went with one of those "chrome" 8 in. antennas and it looks awesome but you notice a great drop in signal strength. I would only recommend one of those if you just listen to cds or you iPod through your car, like I do. I put the stock antenna back on during winter.

                      Re: Antenna Alternatives

I love my antenna... it goes down when the car is parked and up when I turn on the radio or start the car. That way it looks clean when the car is parked and I don't care if my antenna sticks out when I'm driving down the road.

Get an amplified one from somewhere and hide it yourself; you could run it right along the hatch metal and probably have no problems.
