My tips looked just like that. I took a hack saw at a 45* angle and cut them off so they were flush with the bumper, then filed the edge smooth. Then I painted them gunmetal. Looks a ton better IMO. It was a cheap way to do it, but it looks just fine.

that's one way to do it lol, i'm gettin new ones cuz these are 2.5" rolled edge, and i've wanted 3.5" stainless slash cuts for a while now..."truck tips" as folks around here call em, since it seems to be what everyone puts on their V8 ford and chevy trucks along w/ glasspacks. the ones i have now just look so small against the rear bumper

Eh, if you ask me, it's a V6, dual 3.5s are way overkill. I'll stick to my 2.5" slash cuts. I think they are the perfect size, but that's me :)

very sensible opinion  3.5" is the biggest i would go, and i would never go that big if i hadnt seen them up close on a car already. a friend of mine has a 97 w/ 3.5" tips, so i know the look i'll be getting. if they slip em on at the shop and i change my mind, then 3" will be the ticket, just something a little larger than what i have now...i really have no clue why, i guess it's growing up around all these trucks with those tips lol

edit: come to think of it, in light of my recent ttop fubar, i may have to put the tips on hold...daaaang!

ha me too, when the guy at the shop put em on, he asked me how far out i wanted em, and i told him to flush em w/ the bumper, but as soon as he put the welder to em he slid em out...i didnt notice til i got home
