  • Input on these halos

I have been thinking about a new appearance mod for a while, and this may be it. There are many halo kits out there for 98-02, but i may like this one the best. The original, single halo points too far up, and the other dual halo has the ugly LEDs on the side. If anyone has this style, can you post pics, or let me know reliability, and if the halos point up at an angle? Sorry for no pic...my hosting site is not working right now.

If you look a tiny bit closer you will notice that the lights you have in the link have the LEDs on the side as well. I have them on my 98 and I think they look great. I originally didn't like them but the LEDs aren't that bad. I have a pic of them halfway installed in my fquick.

I agree they are one of the better looking halos, and a pretty good price for the whole kit. Chances are the projectors are crap, but I haven't heard of any manufactured after market headlights for the 98+ that have good projectors. They should be fine though, just not great for a projector.

It's my understanding that the dual halo style lights haven't been out very long, so even if someone bought these at their debut, they probably couldn't tell you much about their longevity. What matters is they look good, and they work, which is mainly determined by the pictures and your headlight bulbs.

The projectors are awesome. If you're not looking right in their beam you can see the halos perfect but if you get within their range they're bright as hell.

You have any pictures of the cutoff on a wall?

You are right...I didn't even notice the LEDs....I guess they arent so bad after all. If I got these, I would eventually put HIDs in...would they burn up the projector housing?

Halogens actually give off more heat than HIDs. Technically projector housings are meant for HIDs, but not all of them are very well suited for HIDs.

No but it was a very straight line IIRC. I'll get some pics when I get the car back in the garage. It's got an open oil line waiting to be hooked up to a turbo sitting in the driveway right now.

Wow, Blizzard, that is a mean build you have going on. Just from seeing one side of those lights installed, I love them. I have a black 02, so it would look the same. Do you remember what eBay user you got them from, and how long it took to arrive?

                      Re: Input on these halos

gt_racers Is where I bought it from. They are in Canada I believe. I didn't receive the rear sidemarkers in the first shipment so I emailed them very politely and they responded very politely that they'd have them shipped ASAP. They were apparently on back order but they did get me everything I ordered without any extra shipping fees.

I think the headlights and front corners came in about 2 weeks after buying.. and the rear markers came after like 5 weeks lol. I was in no rush to get them on so I wasn't really paying attention to when they arrived. I just made sure that I was going to get what I paid for and they gave me no troubles at all. They even sent the colored replacement lights for the clear corners.

Yeah not many people have those lights.. actually I've only seen them installed on one other camaro other than mine so you'd definitely stand out. And that build would be mean if it had a turbo in there. The one in the pictures is broken ****.

I went ahead and just ordered the lights! The user was ProExhaust in California. I will be out of town until next week, so hopefully they will be here when I get back.

As far as the wiring...I think I am going to run a wire through the firewall and connect the lights to a toggle switch which I will put in the ashtray. My source will likely be the ACC for the radio, but I was just wondering if the wires would be the same voltages (radio and lights). Once I get them all instaled, I will take plenty of pics.

This is the exact set I was looking at. I think they look pretty nice.

Why not just use the marker light wires? I'll take pics of what I did it's real easy. No splicing necessary at all, you just need something fairly sharp like a tiny flat head screw driver. I'll take pics and all that stuff.
