Anyone ever paint their crowl? Mine is somewhat fadded and I was thinking about painting it. Also my car is a 96' Camaro and I switched to 02' wiper arms so the wiper arms look better than the crowl. LOL So I was thinking of using some primer on it first and then use Krylon plastic paint. You think flat black or I was thinking high gloss, just because I just had my car repainted last year Artic white and have a 3" SS hood with a plastic high gloss grill insert. Let me know what you think, I'm leaning more towards the high gloss because of the hood and the 02' wiper arms are more of a glossy finish.

Re: Painting plastic crowl
I don't know of anyone who has done this but it sounds like a good idea.
I would just make sure the auto primer you use is made to adhere to plastic.
I have painted plastic parts before but never used a primer.
If you do paint it you should post up some pics so we can check it out.

Re: Painting plastic crowl
I think I'm def. going to use the clear primer that is made for plastic and the spray paint also made for plastic. Just trying to decide on the flat black or gloss black. I think I probably go with the gloss black, then I will not have to armoral it when washed.LOL08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Painting plastic crowl
The plastic primer would be a good idea. I really wouldn't use high gloss though. Satin will get you the look of brand new plastic. If you want something with a little more sheen, go for semi gloss. I mean if you are set of high gloss then go for it, but I think it will look cheesy. I replaced my wiper arms with the newer style as well and painted my cowl satin black, and I'm very happy with the choice.

Re: Painting plastic crowl
yep, adhesion promoter was going to be my suggestion as well. suggest getting supplies from an auto paint supply store. let them know what you are planning and they can hook you up with something like 'bulldog adhesion promoter' (which is just the pre treatment, not the primer) and then whatever type of primer you need based on the type of paint you will be spraying. i figure you have an air compressor so an auto paint store can realy hook you up with caned aerosol primers and even sometimes canned single stage paint in custom aerosol or with bases and clears for your own gun to shoot with your compressor and spray rig.
if you have not tried something like turtle wax ICE to restore the luster and color of the cowl then that might be something to look at before redoing the area with paints. on similar note, dont forget to use some sort of solvent or zero residue cleaner (that wont melt plastic nor wind shield seal) to get off all the built up waxes, etc., before actually painting or prepping the area for paint. gl bro.

Re: Painting plastic crowl
I don't really care if it is crowl or cowl it is the plastic piece where the windsheild wipers are.LOL08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
