Ive been thinking about changing out the lights in the gauge cluster to blue LEDs. I know that the bulbs are 194s. Since the gauges right now glow red but the bulbs that are in the cluster are clear, i was wondering if there is a red film or something in the cluster to cause them to glow red or if i could just swap out the clear 194s with blue LEDs to get the gauges to glow blue instead of red. I was also wondering if this would apply to the AC panel and the headlight control panel too.

If you have a firebird it has red film on all interior panels. All the bulbs are not 194s you have a couple of different ones for the door panels and the headlight switch. also if you take the needles off gauge cluster to get the film off you're gauges will lose calibration.

Alright thanks, thats kinda what i figured about the film. And yes i do have a Firebird. So if i was to go about taking the film off, is there any way to get the gauges recalibrated?

I don't know of any place that can recalibrate the gauges. You can get them back pretty close.

This link will show what bulbs you will need if you go through with it. I have the bulbs from superbright and some of them blink.
