  • side skirt question

This is the bottom panel under the passenger side of the car.

big big dent as you can see

I don't think it's possible to get this replaced; however i was wondering if installing some side skirts from body kits to see if it could cover it up or what not.

I know some members have body kits installed so do you think it will work?

Im pretty sure the side skirt starts after the door so i think it would cover it... I could be wrong. I dunno if the dent would effect installing the side skirt either

Side skirt would need a flush surface to mount to.

I would just take it up to a body shop if I were you. The only way you're going to be able to bang that dent out is by cutting off all the welds that hold it on, and it's attached to the rear quarter panel, so you would have to remove that too. That's a pain staking process and really just not necessary. The easiest way to fix that dent would be to use a stud welder (welds small nails to it) and pull it out with a slide hammer. Something that should really be left for the pros.

i have the same problem, you can actually purchase the rocker panel and have the dent cut out and a patch welded in, which would be the correct way to do it. You can also find a body shop that has a stud welder and kinda pull it out as much as possible and fill the rest in with filler, doing so a while after driving, if it wasn't done right and the surface wasn't prepped right, you'll have it crack and it will look like poo. go to GM parts Direct.com and you'll see the replacement part. or better yet, go to your local junk yrd that carrys camaros and see if they can cut out a good piece of the rocker, and take it to get patched in. its what Im going to have to do..

Hmm I'll look into that stud welder idea. Not as expensive as side skirts I'm hoping?

The side skits on mine wouldn't be affected by that dent and they would also cover it up.
