  • Hood insulation removal.

I"ve heard of people removing the insulation underneath the hood, and i'd say it looks pretty darn good when cleaned up properly.

I want to do it, is it something as simple as ripping the thing out and cleaning it or is there some catch?

if it's as easy as it seems i'm gonna do it.

    thanks

I never had it... so this is a worthless post by me.

it looks a lot cleaner without it

just read a bunch of posts on this subject, seems like its a good thing to take off, but whats holding it up?

      just some plastic pins?

Mine was torn a bit when I got it. So I just ripped it off. Yes, they are just little plastic clips holding it up.

isnt the insulation there to protect the hoods paint from the engines heat?

it won't affect the paint, people with trans ams do this as well and no complaints.

people say it affects the paint, warps the hood, keeps the engine warmer in winter blah blah blah.. i just don't buy it.

it's only a v6 but i want to hear my engine :naughty:

I took mine off about 1 year ago. Looks much better. All that was under it was dust and a little dirt. Cleaned off very easily.

It can look good if you make it. I like mine.

just use a paper towel; the only thing that's going to get on the underside of your hood is dust, and that easily comes off

The hood liner is a fire-suppression device; if something caught fire, it would melt and smother the fire....however, if something in your car is on fire, whether or not you have a hood liner is the least of your concerns.

yeah I had the same concerns, and everything has worked out fine so far. Soap and water if it gets real dirty.

Saw one guy put a mirror under there. Looked good. Must be a pain to clean

yeh I definately don't egret doing mine. Made the engine sound a lot louder, could just be my imagination though
