    Re: Hood Repair.

I had a HUGE problem with getting way too much space between the nose of the hood and the front clip where they met when the hood was closed. Looked like crap. What I did was go to where the hood bolts to the hinges. There you'll find two slotted holes on each hinge (problem is, they're slotted to the inside of the car and not toward the front). What I did was take the tabs on the hinges that are "supposed" to fit in the small holes in the hood and bend them flat. After that, I took a dremel and hogged out about 1/2 inch of metal toward the front of the car (this made the hood adjustable from back to front) on all four of the slotted hinge mounting holes in a triangular shape to keep some of the side to side adjustment. What I found was if I left the hood bolts about hand tight, the hood lifts, when mounted back up, would actually push the hood to the farthest point out at the hinges (most toward the front). After that, it was just shifting the hood till it closed well, then line up the latch and bam! Looked stock.

I'll try and get a couple pics tonight, but in the meantime, this may paint a pretty decent picture. I hope it helps till then.

thanks for the description, honestly i don't understand half of it, so i'm not gonna try to unless the hood doesn't fit.

we'll worry about it in a few days when i go to put it on.

in my hopes i'd like to think the hood will in fact fit ok, simply because the previous owner of the hood did have it attached to the car, whether it was a good fit or not is unknown.

            Re: Hood Repair.

this is with the final layer of body compound, just before being sanded, primed and painted. the crack that was once, is no more.

this is a bigger view of the hood.

to finish it off, there were a few slight cracks on the front of the hood in the paint so i'm fixing those as well, which is why you see some putty all over the place.

the matching paint, primer, and clear coat cost me over 50$ but it should look good for years to come, plus i may need the leftover paint down the line. can you say rusty quarter panels??

well theres that, i'll post up pics when it's finished and then when on the car.

                    sorry i don't have a spray gun.

please realize that i'm really not too concerned about it being "perfect"

honestly, the crack is fixed, thats what i was worried about.
