did you try a local autoparts store? I actually don't see the problem though, can't you just put the cap in the holder on the fuel door?

my '99 has both the holder in the door and a plastic tether around the cap. Odd that the OP's car has neither

You could replace the gas door with one from a car that had it? Otherwise, like I said, you might try some local places they might be able to help you out with the teather.

Buy a new OEM gas cap from a dealership; it will have a teather on it.

I'd do like Schlotzsky said. Go find a car in the junk yard and grab the gas door. All 4th gens should have the same sized door, so just swap it out.

My 98 has the tether, and the little knob that lets the cap hang off the tether.

But then you have to worry about matching the color/wear of your car's paint.:(

                      Make your own tether.

My '02 has the gas cap tether but the damn plastic "nut" that supposed to keep the tether attached fell off. So now I have to put the cap on top of the gas pump.
