Well, knowing how to buff would be a good thing to know before you begin the process, but keep in mind you have...i think its like about a week after you put on the final coat to buff it...so I suppose you could read up on it then. When painting the car, careful taping is extremely crucial, if you slip up on that part (i.e. cover more than the seal or not enough of it, or if you let the paper/tape lift) your whole job could be tarnished.
Make sure to make even passes with the gun and try and keep it about a hands length from the paint to keep it from running. do your best to start spraying off the car and end off the car (or the spot you are painting) to keep it even and also avoid runs.
Uhh...Oh! make sure to use grease remover on the ENTIRE car before painting it or the paint will not adhere and you will get small pits in areas. I also went over the whole car with a tack rag to lift off any dust possibly left on the car.

wet sanding and buffing after painting will cure most small runs and some orange peel as well as any dust that falls back down into the paint as it dries and get you that "I can see myself" shine. Anyone feel free to mention anything i missed. Also, Hotrodmagazine.com gives some pretty useful information.

And yes Archer, it runs great now...it did not when i bought it. Put a new battery in it, fixed the connections and replaced the radiator. I have done a bunch more since that just for fun and regular maintanence.

Car looks great!Nice choice on the hood, that style is really growing on me

I would just buy the black front and rear markers off ebay - cheap and look great
And those vette replicas aren't much cheaper than the TT2's - I got mine from TZwheels for 12hun or so with 315's out back. I love them and the wait and saving for them was well worth it.

its always good to spray and adhesion/adhesive promoter (cant think of how to spell it)before laying the paint down. we did this at the body shop i helped out at. also like the other guy said, you gotta remember to tack rag it between coats this will help out tremendously. especially if your not in a state of the art paint booth.

              Re: Jet Black Repaint Finished!

There are three coats on the car. I used a Binks #7 gun on it, so I went through a lot of paint. So the time between coats was just the time it took me to refill the gun with the next paint mixture.

that totally depends on the brand of paint you are using, they take different times to flash

and a little trick is to wet the floor down in the area you will be painting, it will draw the dust down towards it so its not floating around and landing on your paint

Ya that floor trick is great! I used that too, just be sure not to splash the water onto the car

and Im not sure what ur saying about the bumpers...are you asking if you should keep them on or off? If so, its up to you, but i would leave them on so that you dont take the risk of scratching anything while putting them on the car after painting.

and thanks for all the great replies guys!
