  • Rust Bubbles on Roof of 2000 T-Top

I have a black t top and on that band of metal between the glass t top and the rear
window I had multiple bubbles of rust ready to break through. This has been coming
for a few years and I tried to inject anti-rust product by spray in that area but it had
no value at all. This was a design flaw as many of you know. I was able to deal with it for $125. I had this free lance guy put convertible top material and glue it to the area.
    See enclosed photos.
I am happy with it considering it would have cost me $600 + to have a body shop
do major surgery and I would never be able to re-sell it with rust holes on the roof.

There was a chevy service memo I saw once and they showed it to be steel.
I cannot imagine blisters poping up on fiberglass.

its fiberglass. they all are fiberglass. I researched to see if you could get one that was steel. it doesnt exist. its the chemicals from the glue and the resin in the fiberglass outgassing. there is a TSB on it. TONS of people are ****ty about it, some get it fixed for free, others pay a deductable, and others are just faced with a $700-$900 bill from the dealer after fixing it. you can find more info about it here (search) or on LS1tech.com aswell as Camaroz28.com

I found the Tech notice...I contact my dealer but they said my camaro was too old
and they were unwilling to do anything and I appealed to the DM of Chevy but he said no. Blisters and holes are what they are and it matters not if its fiberglass or steel rusting as the outcome of having them on your Camaro
make the car undesirable to all but the poorly sighted.

This was the best and less expensive way to handle it.

it effected MORE people in the south because of the heat. has nothing to do with the paint itself..

You got any more larger and closer pictures? I thought this was going to look horrible, but it really doesn't look that bad from what I can see.

Ive been dealing with pontiac directly for last month now, they just keep BSing me non stop. I brought it to dealer to get looked at and they called a rep at pontiac and talked to them. The lady im dealing with is a complete airhead and if i saw her in person i would back hand her.
