  • Puddle in the trunk

I've searched and not found any info about possible leaks from the ragtop into the trunk. It rained yesterday and it looks like it leaked from where the back of the convertible top meets the body and into the trunk. I'm not sure how to make sure there is a watertight seal back there. The seal around the trunk lid is in great shape. Anybody have any info or can point me in the right direction, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

not sure about the rag tops....but is there a way you can see into the trunk when it is closed? i.e fold the seat down or something? or maybe crawl inside and close it(if you can fit)....and have someone with a garden hose spray the trunk to identify where the leak is comming from....Once you determine how the water is getting in, you can figure out if it is bad weather stripping, or maybe you trunk is mis-aligned....

^ Thats what I would do. Would be the easiest to find out where it leaks.

he's talking about the trunk....I think you are talking about inside the actual car....maybe you have a whole in your floorboard....also, our car does have plugs in various parts of the body, maybe you are just missing one....

              Re: Puddle in the trunk

Thanks for the responses. I think I've identified the leaky spot. Folded down the seat and investigated the rear under the rear window drain panel and it seems that where the drain panel connects to the extension is where the water is leaking in. Now I have to figure out how to clean up the metal and try to see why the water is not draining properly. Hopefully I will be able to do all this without removing the top. Though I did replace the convertible top on the wifes VW a couple years ago I still need more info before I get too deep into this one. Thanks again for y'alls help. maybe I'll take and record my efforts in pictures for future reference.
