Alright, so this winter, I'll be restoring my headliner, and putting some tint on, I'm going to have to go with a 25 so it evens out around 30 and hopefully won't be pulled over, whatever. But I am starting to get bored with the interior, and was wondering if anyone had ever done anything with that gap in the console underneath the head unit area on the 93-97s I think it was meant to hold tapes, I have CDs so yeah. umm, I was thinking maybe finding a good size gps, and have my friend fiberglass it in? Opinions?

I saw a piece on eBay a while back that converted the area to a CD holder, but I don't really understand how it would work as there just isn't space.

I had my siruis controller in there for the 3 days I had sirius until I decided it was complete crap.

I've been toying with the same idea, but always end with the conclusion that I don't need a GPS and would never use it.

Well i was thinking about a touch screen to control my audio, but then i have a hole where my cd player was... but ya no way a cd is fitting in there

on LS1 tech a whial back some guy did it it looked sweet he wraped it in leather or something and it looked good i think it was on a 98+ tho

i dont understand what you mean by getting 25% tint on so it even out to 30%

putting 25% tint on your car will give you about 20% from the meter.. for instance, i had 35% installed on my car, and the cop's tint meter said i had 27% tint on the windows, factoring in the stock tint on the window.

putting a gps/any other related screen thing in the center console? although its a great idea, it wouldnt work out very well, since it would be so hard to try and look at while driving

I always thought it'd be nice to make a custom control panel that fits in there with a couple buttons that blend into the rest of the car. What it would be for I'm not sure, but air-ride controls, under car lights, and the like come to mind.

I got a cover from RK sport along time ago that made it flat, so I installed my wideband gauge( still needs some finishing up) and a Vac/boost gauge. Mine is a 96' Camaro and there are some pics in my Cardomain site in my profile if you want to take a look. I also put my purge button for my nitrous under the cigeratte lighter.

I meant that my windows currently let in 95% of light, so i have a 5% tint, if i add a 25% tint i should have 30% total, and let in 70% of light. I think that's how it works, umm if not let me know. I may just be smoothing it, not totally sure, and umm, no nitrous so i don't really need the switch(yet). I'm from the south hills area, the rich Mt. Lebanon area to be exact.

nope, multiply the tints. If you have 95% right now, and then add 25%, 95x.25=23.75% I put 20% on mine and it came up as 11% on the meter, meaning I already had 55% from the factory. Seems high to me, but that's what it's coming up as.....

correct.

take a look at your window where it has the little writing on it, sometimes they say the tint % on there

IIRC mine is tinted 77% from the factory

and according to your math, 77% with my 35% tint i had on gives almost 27% which is what the cops meter said when i got pulled over

ok, so i feel like a retard, umm, do you mean your windows let in 77% of light from the factory? and you added a tint that let 35% light through? or that let 65% of light in?

factory windows let in 77% light, i put 35% tint over that, which means that tint only lets 35% in and combined with the 77% would only be letting 27% of light in
