Alright, my driver's side seat is starting to fall apart; I was given the option of A) have it repaired and recovered, or B) some racing seats. I've seen a few pics of them installed, but how hard was it? I know I'll have to fab up some brackets, but that's nothing, I just want to make sure they're gonna fit right. One thing I'm afraid of is if they sit too high off the floor. Who has seats in their car, and how was the install?

I used to have a neighbor who installed those racing seats he got from Pep Boys in his Camaro. They were nice. He did fab the brackets though.

Re: Racing Seats
I'm pretty set on a set of BOMZ seats I found. $280 shipped or something like that; they look good, come with universal sliders, fully reclinable, easily flip forward, and have lumbar support. They're going to be a christmas present, so I won't have any updates on how the fit until new years at the easliest.~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

Re: Racing Seats
I just bought some Spearco seats, much lighter and have the memory foam so they are great to sit in and have extra lumbar support. I got the brackets for them too. I installed them today with a little help. Much better than my other racing seats I put in before and had to weld up the brackets so they would fit right. I'll see if I can get some new pics put on my Cardomain site. My old seats are pictured on there, you can click on my profile for my Cardomain site for pics. The Spearco seats cost more but def. worth it, just for the comfort and support, also don't sit that high, just about the same as the ones I had to weld my own brackets. My old seats were $330 shipped plus some time welding, had them just about 2 years. My new ones were def. alittle more than that.LOL I really needed them for the back support since my back has taken a crap.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Racing Seats
I saw your seat when I searched; they look good. Which brackets did you get then and now? I'm almost certain mine aren't going to fit as they come with universal sliders; did you just weld the stock brackets to your other seats? If not, what exactly did you do? Any pics of the brackets (new or old)?~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

Re: Racing Seats
My old setup was the drivers side using the universal brackets with the ends od the bracket seat welded on and the passenger side was the seat bracket cut down and re welded so you weren't sitting high in the seat. The new ones I bought are the Spearco mounting brackets so they fit real well and your not too high in the seat. LM performance has pics of the brackets of the Spearco brackets, I'll see if I can get a bottom pic of my old seats.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Racing Seats
I've seen them before, they look good for the money. Also the 37" height it might come close to the roof when folding.Last edited by ssms5411; 11-30-2008, 02:48 AM.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Racing Seats
not my cup of tea for a daily driver......
i think that they work for street/drag cars and show cars. to have racing seats and a 5 point harness in daily driver that does nothing to need the extra security, is just pointless in my eyes.
i find the camaro seats soooooooooo cozzzzzzy. i love them and wish i could put them in ever car. just my .02Last edited by kristen; 12-01-2008, 05:43 PM.
