wheels and tires

i have an 01 pewterbird and i have been thinkin about buyin some new wheels and tires. i currently have the stock wheels wrapped in bf goodrich 235/55/16R's. should i just get a new set of wheels that fit my tires or should i just get a set of 18's with some bigger tires. is there anything special about 18's or whatever other than the look?

nothin special with 18s. i say either a 17s all around or 18in back 17s in front if u like that look. i have 19s in back 18 in front on a 95 z28. have you decided on a set of wheels yet?

x2 on the 17's front 18's rear setup...that's what i plan on going with for my z06 replicas...still looks awesome and has a great stance but doesn't sacrifice as much performance as larger wheels might. I'm kinda in the same boat as you tho, i need tires pretty badly but i'm waiting to get them for my new rims instead of the stockers

Alot of people like to go 17's all around but I personally like the staggered look the most. I got polished C5's in 245/45/17 up front and 275/40/18 in the rear.

Get 17's all around. 18's can get expensive with tires.

i like that staggered setup more..but as far as chrome and black i like the black look with pewter better. probably goign to look for 17x9 or 18x9 all the way around. problem is i dont have $1000 to spend =(

Pewter... stick with black or gunmetal. And stick with 17's, rubber is expensive! Not to mention the ride gets a bit rougher as they get bigger (sidewall gets smaller).

yeah i was leaning more towards the 17's. 18's are to pricy for me.

Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat. I too have been tossing around the same question for my pewter Camaro and I think I'll eventually end up getting 17s all the way around, probably the deep dish chrome C5s. Also been thinking about black with a polished lip (they're a little cheaper), but chrome never goes out of style.
