Re: MAACO Paint?
Unless you know someone at Maaco extremely well (as in you go out for beers 3 times a week with), don't waste your money. Chips are terrible, sure, but I have yet to see a paint job without a single run either. On top of that, I get confused between the paint's finish and an orange peel. Honestly. I've tried to bite into three of my friends cars.:(

X2 for the orange peel , chips and runs. My whole front end started to chip after 6,000 miles, they used a red/orangish primer for the under coat, basicly left over paint, they don't waste anything. This was at Earl Scheib, basicly same process. And they don't buff the cars finish when their done, alot of orange peel, I had to make them fix 4 runs in the paint, which they buffed it dowe to the base coat, I had it repainted twice, I was so fustrated I just left and never came back. But the clear coat looks good for awhile until the chips start poping up. The same with my moms truck they did. Also the overspray is crazy, it is like they don't know how to tape off a section.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: MAACO Paint?
For christ's sake, did we get enough photos there? Damn...
Nice looking car, but I hope you don't still have the 'vette emblems on the side.
Do every bit of prep yourself, buy some good PPG paint and take it to them, and make sure the guy's a good painter and you're set.Y87 Package

Re: MAACO Paint?
I would never ever go to macco. Save your money buy ppg like stated, and do your own prep work. If you have question on how to do the prep work or what you can do to help them out ask, but usually sand the car down with 400gritt sand paper until all desired areas are dull in apperance. Also if you really were concerned about overspray and everything tape up your windows for them (can't hurt). And you can use old news papers and 3m scotch tape for the taping. In the end if your looking for something that is going to be durable and last it all starts with the primer and the clear coat. A good primer will hold the paint to the car and a nice clear will make sure that it doesn't chip as easy. Good luck with the paint job, and with a tax return right around the corner if i were you i would just wait and get a good paint job done.
