  • Please help ID these wheels...

Hey whats up everybody. I bought my first car last May. It's a 1997 3.8L v6 with a 5-speed. I got it from one of my dad's buddies and got a great deal. $1000. These pics are from when I got the car so they are old. It has 17" Corvette rims, but I can't figure out which generation or model year they are from. Since I've had the car, one of the Corvette emblems has fell off the wheel and its long gone. I noticed one day because there was a big blotch of yellowish goo. Turns out it had fallen off before and the guy who owned the car last tried to epoxy it back on. Like I said the picture is old..I've done alot of work to it since, including bodywork, paint, exhaust and intake as well as a new stereo and some other little stuff. I'll try to get a few better shots soon, including a close up of the rim, but were expecting snow soon.

If anyone could help me figure out what year wheels these are it would be really appreciated, and if anyone could point me in the direction to get a replacement emblem that'd be awesome. Thanks alot.

P.S. I'm looking into getting a Camaro windshield decal, what do I measure for the length? Outside of the windshield or inside?

--Edit OK I fixed the link, sorry about that...

    Try again with that link.

Open the picture in it's own window, and copy the URL at the top, or get the link from the photobucket prompts when viewing the image. Edit your post with the new link or give me the link and I can do it for you.

If so, I believe those are ZR1 wheels. I'm no Corvette expert, so I couldn't tell ya which years the Corvettes came with those. As for the center caps, you can easily find those on ebay.

Re: Please help ID these wheels...

Thanks for all the help guys. I've searched for the decal but the closest thing I can find is a set of center caps with a similar style. They have a checkered flag and a Chevy bowtie, while mine have actual corvette style flags.

Any ideas how to remove the epoxy? Nail-Polish remover?

Epoxy Remover is sold at Lowes, but it also removes paint too = no good.
I'd try a heat gun, but using it somewhat lightly at first. Just try to heat the epoxy up so it comes flexible and then pry it off. I'm pretty sure nail polish remover will strip the paint on the rims.

I never had to remove epoxy before, so I don't know any other tricks.
