Mine broke in a zillion pieces when I was redoing the interior. I bought one that had been broken and glued it back together, now I can't seem to get it in there. There has to be something I'm missing?

Re: Is there a trick to putting the dash pad back in?
I don't know but the last time I messed with mine it broke and cracked all over, AZ heat didn't do it any good. I used some duct tape. Then I just put my dashmat over it to cover it up. Good luck08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

I put the passenger side in first and flexed it a little bit and it slid back in, I guess I was being too gentle with it before.

The big plastic piece for the dashboard is easy - if you have T-tops. For hard tops, it is harder because the pillar pieces do not come out the same way.I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Re: Is there a trick to putting the dash pad back in?
The Search function is your friend.
Here is what I wrote about it five years ago:
http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread...ight=dashboard
...and a cut and paste of my brilliant insights:
Take two screws out from top of each A pillar and pry off the A pillars (covers actually).
I had only two small hitches:
1. There are two pegs underneath the dash part for positioning the part. I could not figure out the driver's side - the place where the hole was supposed to be was filled in - in fact it had a peg sticking down from it! Then I realized the filled-in hole/peg was the old broken-off peg from the old cover - Duh. A needle nose pliers got that piece out.
2. The driver's side A pillar cover took a little "convincing" with a rubber mallet to go back into position.
WOO HOO - Car looks great again.
Lastly - I noticed that it almost exclusively the Florida persons who have made posts about replacing this part - definitely a problem from the intense heat/sun here.
I might start using a sun shield in the window now.
And BTW - GMPARTSDIRECT.COM = best prices and quick delivery.
(2009 update -
A. My last experience with gmpartsdirect.com was very s-l-o-o-w (like almost two months). Maybe parts are getting harder to come by now.
B. I have used a sun shield ever since that first dashboard replacement - and this new one is still in perfect condition.
C. I think the aftermarket dashboard mat things people sometimes use look cheesy.)Last edited by Everglades W68; 01-30-2009, 12:41 AM.I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Wow, the price has doubled since I bought mine back in 2004.
$168 + shipping = $206.
I paid 86.66 + $17 shipping = $104.
Then again, this part has been out of production for eight years.
And (update) yes, I keep mine protected by a sun shade every day. It is still in great condition.I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
