Also, while we are on the topic of lights, has anyone done something to upgrade the nasty yellow light that illuminates the rear license plate. Mine looks terrible! Got any ideas for leds and or a link to some leds that I could mount maybe on black plastic that would withhold the weater.
The lic. plate light should be a white light, if your is yellow there might be something on it, so I would check it out. I don't know about other states but in AZ the lic. plate light must be white any other color like people putting red lighting around the plate can be pulled over and given a warning most likey or a fix it ticket. Mainly it just gives them a reason to pull you over and check you out for your license and wants&warrants(code 27/29).LOL

Yeah, my SS spoiler has the LED 3rd light, and those are just my running lights. The brakes are just the outside section, and much brighter. I couldn't put the brake on and take the pic at the same time :)
The benefit of mixing black/clear would be primarily the look of the finished product. It's professionally done, and even I, the spray can king, will admit that car paint applied with professional equipment will usually turn out better than rattle cans. (you can make it look really good, but it's much more work)
There are plenty of white LED replacement license plate bulbs. Search ebay for "white LED 194" vleds sells some that would be perfect and cheap, and I really like the seller.
Thanks! I will look him up. So I take it the leds will be a direct replacement? Also, how strange of a request is it to have lens painted like that? Are they going to think that I am nuts when I walk into our local reputable paint shop and ask for this done. Do they still sand and prep the lenses etc?

Yep, direct swap. I was quoted at two shops for the black tinting. Just explain to them you want black and clear mixed in for a tint coat, and tell them how dark you want it. Neither gave me a funny look, though I don't think either had done much of it. But yeah, they should sand and prep the lenses, they did on mine.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
