  • painted the tail panel

I did this a little bit ago but i figure i'll share, dont mind the mess in the car had to store the rims in there for the time being

Heres a pic with the tail panel off and ready to be sanded, the green tape was for the area that i wanted to keep blue

Heres the piece pretty much sanded down, still had alittle left to do around the letters and tail light area

Here's the piece after completed sanding and wiped down with prep wipes for paint...it was still wet from the prep wipes when i took the pic...

Here it is after primer (was sanded again after primer using finer grade sandpaper), prep wiped and waiting to dry for final coat of paint

after first coat of flat black paint....doesnt look much different then the primer lol

Back on the car after a few coats. dont mind what looks to be imperfections on the tail panel, it was the sun's reflection from the bumper and hatch.

I always like the look of camaro's this way. Not bad considering it was all done with dupli-color rattle can paint and primer.

I'm a fan of the berger panel, but I think it needs inserts to make it look like it's supposed to be there. On that color car I probably wouldn't have done it though, that is one sexy blue.

thats one of those bose speaker boxes or some crap like that. I've seen them on ebay..

Nice berger bud.. I'll use normal paint with a flat clear for protection, but hell, what you did is ALOT cheaper and it still looks good.

                Looks good

Although, I prefer them painted in a glossy finish. Still looks good though.

Actually, I have one of those Bose Speaker Boxes and it's in great condition. I'll take some photo's and put it up for sale. I totally forgot about it.

                  Looks good.

I did a spare one in satin black. Looks like yours could use some chrome or vinyl fill-ins to finish it off.

Agree, I generally like them glossy, though I have seen them in flat on some colors that looks sweet. Still though, very nice job!

I have a bose sub box sitting in my closet as well, I should probably sell it too:)

I like the flat. I also like the two colors together. I would suggest getting some more black accents around the car if you dont already. Looks good.

lol most of it was just the stuff i took off to take the panel off and the boxes were just my z06 rims that i put in there to get them out of the way until i was able to get them in my garage. i did this over my buddys house and i wasnt gonna leave them outside.

i have some dents that i got to fix on the car then its going to get repainted the same color and during that time i'll have the tail panel redone in normal paint so it will last.
