never seen them on a bird. Will a 40mm offset work?

40mm offset is fine for an 8.5" rim, but that isn't the right bolt pattern. Our cars are 5x120.65mm. Those would fit GTOs and the like, but not correctly on our cars.

That said, I know some people have made 5x120mm wheels fit on f-bodies, but there is controversy on whether or not this is safe/okay.

"When you order with Wheel Max, you can always be sure to recieve wheels with the correct lug pattern for your vehicle."

and this is stated on their webpage 0.0

way too narrow for 18" rims imo. Whatever floats your boat though.

Depends on what tire you're using. It's too narrow for a 275-section tire, but a 245/40/18 would fit just fine (per TireRack). As most of the V6 cars start with a 235-width tire, I'd think it'd be ok.

And as for the 5x120.65 (F-body) vs 5x120 (GTO), it's hard to say if it'll be that much of an issue - each lug hole would be off about 0.33mm - but for some, since you're cranking down on the lug nuts to a fair amount of torque, that side load's an issue. Of course, if you don't have a proper hub-centric fit, then you have the potential to be out-of-round and have bad balance issues if you torque the lugs incorrectly.

I'm just saying that if I was going to buy 18" wheels, I wouldn't want to be sitting on honda-esque 245's.
Its nice to get a little bit more meat out back!
