intalling new gauges

i recently bought some white face gauges they look pretty sweeet but the instruction they give r pretty crappy has anyone ever installed or know how to take off the speedometer?

just pull the bezel out and start removing screws.. that bezel is a whore btw..

thanks that looks similar but my gauges r one who piece but wat im saying is how do u take it out? the screws on the bottom of the steering wheel and the ring above it does just snap off???

quick question do any needles come off??? the gauges i got its one whole piece and idk if i move a needle up to slide it in will it throw it off when i install it?

I had to remove the needles for my overlays, but some of them don't. What they told me to do was let the car warm up, and keep record of how long it took. Then write down/take a picture of where each needle is, and when you go to put them back on, just start the car, wait however long it took to warm up and then put them back on. Only one I really had trouble with was the speedo; I have a GPS though so I just held my speed, checked it via GPS and then stuck my needle on. I also hooked up my scanner just to double check, and everything was just about spot on.

i left all of mine on just to be safe, but then again I didnt have a one piece.

one thing i ran into, once you get it all out and start to put the new overlay on, try to do it at night with your lights on so you can match it up perfectly to the lights on your dash.

i found this out the hard way and had to redo it. just a thought hope it helps.

Moving the needles while they are still on the gauges will not throw them off.

This has nothing to do with your thread (sorry bud)

But if I change the cluster in my car with another set, does the mileage stay the same? is the mileage stored in the PCM? I've heard both sides of the story how the mileage is stored in the gauges, and i heard its stored in the PCM hence why some tuners can change the mileage...

Reason I ask because I do have a donor motor and trans with appx 48k on both. I want to add the white gauge faces from macewen motorsports. but I dont want to have to buy a new set when I swap the motor and trans into the car because if the mileage is stored in the gauges the cluster from the donor car will go into the 00 with the motor and trans.

Mileage reflects the car that it came from. I think you should be able to swap out the odometer units, though the two different gauge sets I have, have two different connection types.

well i just finished installing them everything seems fine i didnt read this before i did it but everything reads well rpm speedometer( i hope) gas water battery temp everything seems normal so hopefully im in the clear and thanks for that site it really helped out alot but man that cluster was a pain in the *** but its all good thanks again :tup:
