i recently bought some white face gauges they look pretty sweeet but the instruction they give r pretty crappy has anyone ever installed or know how to take off the speedometer?

I had to remove the needles for my overlays, but some of them don't. What they told me to do was let the car warm up, and keep record of how long it took. Then write down/take a picture of where each needle is, and when you go to put them back on, just start the car, wait however long it took to warm up and then put them back on. Only one I really had trouble with was the speedo; I have a GPS though so I just held my speed, checked it via GPS and then stuck my needle on. I also hooked up my scanner just to double check, and everything was just about spot on.~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

i left all of mine on just to be safe, but then again I didnt have a one piece.
one thing i ran into, once you get it all out and start to put the new overlay on, try to do it at night with your lights on so you can match it up perfectly to the lights on your dash.
i found this out the hard way and had to redo it. just a thought hope it helps.

But if I change the cluster in my car with another set, does the mileage stay the same? is the mileage stored in the PCM? I've heard both sides of the story how the mileage is stored in the gauges, and i heard its stored in the PCM hence why some tuners can change the mileage...
Reason I ask because I do have a donor motor and trans with appx 48k on both. I want to add the white gauge faces from macewen motorsports. but I dont want to have to buy a new set when I swap the motor and trans into the car because if the mileage is stored in the gauges the cluster from the donor car will go into the 00 with the motor and trans.MISC: 01 parts. Some interior, T top kit, seats etc.

Mileage reflects the car that it came from. I think you should be able to swap out the odometer units, though the two different gauge sets I have, have two different connection types.'99 Mountaineer AWD 5.0 - 4300K HID, Some Bolt-ons
