  • custom gauge overlays?

I want to do it, but I want to see what ya'll have.

who did you get it from?
How hard was it to install
is it a sticker or vinyl?
    quality?
    customized your overlays?

I've been looking at macewen's overlays since 2003. I've also seen the ones on ebay that were like $25... I've also talked to the guy on the ebay site and said they are great quality with no fading or yellowing. Macewen has been around forever, and I guess stand by their product. But I want to see them installed on a normal car that people drive everyday, with the temps raising and lowering. the sun hitting it aswell as the lights behind it. I want to see how they hold up.

can ya'll post a pic of your overlays?
and OEM gauges that are already white dont count. lol Im talking about aftermarket.

    Thanks
    Archer

    Re: custom gauge overlays?

I didn't have much luck with Macewen "customer service". Put in an order, one month later they weren't at my house, so I emailed a few times with no response. Then I called and he said they would be on there way the following week. One month later, still no overlays. So I stopped my order. I too have thought of those cheap ones off ebay, but have yet to pursue them.

Those are custom McNord gauges; retail for $250, but he just did a GP on FTV6 for 1/2 price. I think they look sweet as hell, especially at night; I swapped out the lights for red LEDs so all the gauges light up red :D

Same here. This design, only appropriate to the 6 cylinder specifics.

Those are printed bezels (rings), but he's working out a newer version of the TA bezel that'll match those and stock gauges. Last I heard he was going to offer them in paintable black ABS and stainless steel.

Yeah mine have held up perfect. They are the reverse glow ones off ebay I think they look sweet at night. Looks like the day I bought them. I've had two sets, one for my v6 cluster, which i had for like 1.5 years and then sold when my cluster went out, and now these for my Z cluster which is coming up on 1.5 years again. Got the same style because I liked them so much.

This is the only pic i have of them on:

You should cut off the excess in the top right (odometer area) and top left (whatever lights those are). That's what I did in mine, same brand from ebay, makes them look alot cleaner and less cheap IMO.

Good call, that does look nicer, but on mine there is nothing under there. I bought a white gauge cluster, then decided I liked the reverse glow better than the ones I had, then I just took off the gauges underneath, so I can't really do that. I'll probably get a new cluster sometime. Pita.
