rust removal

last owner let the battery corrode and it has rust around the battery. i know i need some sand paper and white paint (my car is white). anything else i need to know about cleaning it?

Some baking soda and water will neutalize the acid,wash the area in the solution then rinse with water.

coke also works pretty good and a wire brush to remove the rust already there
