Re: What DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT MACCO PAINT?
if you do the prep work yourself, you can get a decent paint job there, if you dont, they will just sand the clear down and repaint over, thats when it usually starts to chip and everything and is generally crappy

Re: What DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT MACCO PAINT?
I had my car painted there last year. It looks great now, can't really vouge for the durability yet though. I got the "expensive" one they offer with a clear coat too so hopefully it'll hold up better than the quick $200 paint job they offer.94 Camaro convertible -- mostly stock

Uhh I'm pretty sure it was $1100. There were a lot of deep gouges on my hood from when I took my stripes off too. I don't have a roof though...94 Camaro convertible -- mostly stock

Re: What do you guys think of Maaco paint?
I would shop around I found a guy just strarting his own business who did mine for $1900 total , thats with color change from white to black with door jams and engine, removing some big dents, fixing some messed up body work, fiberglassing the in the CAMARO in the rear, and cutting & buffing the car after paint was dry. Turned out a nice dark GM black. I saw he started to raise his rates from the last time I saw him 4 months ago , so he must be doing good.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: What do you guys think of Maaco paint?
i did a ton of body work to get rid of the rust on my old beater. than just took it to maaco to get a quick spray. still looked great after 2 years(when i sold it) very thin paint and clear coat...would never let them touch my camaro.
these pics are about a year and half after she got painted

Re: What do you guys think of Maaco paint?
I just bought a firebird that had Maaco paint, and the paint looked good in most large areas, but while taking apart the car, I realized there was a TON of overspray everywhere, which is usually not that big of a deal, but there was overspray on the taillights, headlights and even some under the hood. They don't do a very good job of masking... also there were a few areas, like the edge of the headlight covers and fenders where the paint had bubbled and started to flake...
But like someone else said, do the prep work yourself and be meticulous and you should get a descent paint-job from them.Rebuilding the engine... Building a custom front end... T-top conversion... Custom rear hatch..
Custom interior...

My brother got his Spec V painted at Maaco, even paid for the 'expensive' job. Its got orange peel everywhere, and there is even a long hair stuck in the paint.
"Cheap for a reason" seems to be good advice.
