I like, but either that is a bad picture or you didn't color inside the lines very well... ;):P

What about "sticky" seran wrap and then use an exacto blade to cut the letters out? I was thinking the tape method but you can't see through it to know if your cutting it right. Anyone tried sticky seran wrap?

Just get quality vinyl from someone like Ben Franker. No need to reinvent the wheel

*sigh* it seems everyone on this board isn't in it for the sport...just in it for the popularity of "having" items on their car. I want to do the work, maybe I'll reivent a better wheel..they tried triangles yet? :)

If I fail I will consider the "sticker" as a last minute fix.

Polished stainless steel will never be imitated by any air brushing or painting. I wanted something that would last and look real good. I had the time putting it on. No, it wasn't as involved as painting, but I've had plenty of quality time with my car in other areas. I'm fine with some things being quick and simple.

If you want something that's guaranteed to look/fit perfect and last for years on end with no touch-up or maintenance, get the decals. If you wanna prove what a super cool custom car dood you are...then go ahead and work for an hour, doing something that should take less than 10 minutes

If you want to paint them then go ahead and do it, I've made stuff for my car like my grill insert for my SS hood from plastic gutter strips and ABS plastic and sprayed it gloss black, they wanted $60 for a insert and making a defrost vent out of gutter fenceing painting it black since they wanted $220 for the dash piece and my dash mat covers up the rest.I would use a touch up paint bottle the little one that have the pin on one side and a little brush on the other and their like $7-$8 for a bottle which should do all the letters. If you thibk you can do it then just do it , I don't let anyone decide what I do with my car, well maybe the wife has some pull but noone else. I had my letters fiberglassed in when I had the car painted black wife didn't like it (oh well) and also have the front ground effects molded on up front so it is one peice, some like it some don't , but I like it and thats all that matters. I was the first one to shorten the A/C hose that I know of, for my turbo project and have had alot of people asking me questions on that. So I say go for it if you can do it. Good luck.

                    Re: Camaro Letter Inserts

or you could do this.. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/appear...ght-panel.html

project takes all of about 3hours being patient and generous

                    i used
a rotozip - optional very high powered dremel
                    multipurpose rotary cutting bit x2
the clear plastic from a poster frame at walmart
privacy window tint from lowes - frosted glass
grey double sided molding tape - advance auto parts
led bar of your choice - mine 20 in multidance pattern
                    800 - 1000 grit sand paper
optional but a good idea to have it repanted afterwards

i got a completely seprate panel picked it up from a junk yard for $50

laid it down and strateled it to keep it in place

dug the rotozip in and slowly started cutting the C

once done with that i moved on

i found when cutting the A and O it is best to cut out the middle first

once youve cut it out sand all edges smoothe and you will end up with a tip on the inner parts of the A and O that will need to be sanded off

cut out a piece of clear plastic the size and of the word camaro leaving room to put tape
i used the poster plastic because its thin and very flexible

cover both sides with the privacy tint - it gives it a frosted glass look and will disperce the light better

tape the plastic to the back side of the panel be generous and tape everywhere for firm fitment

now for the inners of the O and A. place a piece of double sided tape on back and position carefully press from front and back to give a firm placement but without pusshing the plastic off the panel

for the light. depending on what you use it may require some fabrication

i was able to fit mine in but its very snug. i pointed the lights directly toward the CAMARO and used double sided tape to help it stay in place
friend of mine beat the back of the car flat till he had a good place to mount

mount the light and make sure it works before installing the panel

leave the light on while installing the panel in case it cuts off for some reason

                    then install the panel

                    ta da

i might have left something out or not been clear on something but feel free to ask anything you need to

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy some gloss black appliance epoxy paint. It's tough as nails. Taping off is a b**ch even with fine line tape.

I get a hard-on pretty much every morning when I pull out of the driveway in my wifes car to go to work. I polished the rims a lil' and washed her all up and seeing "CAMARO" in black on the back of her just makes me smile. I dunno why, it's just cool I guess. Ha!

they should have done that from the factory or something
