question about 3.42s

Hey everybody, I was just wondering if someone could tell me if all camaros which were equipped with 3.42s from the factory were limited slip or not?? thanks...

nope, mine is 3.42 and no limited slip

....but according to the factory no cars were produced like that lol

RPO codes on my door... it has GU6 (3.42 gears) but not G80 (LSD)

according to gm, only v6s with the y87 package got those... and no cars with only 1... but some cars have only one (mine) and some have both but no y87 package

that is crazy... I could swear that when I checked mine there was the GU6 but no G80.... man weird.........

...could be a posi with a worn out clutch pack, but to answer dude's question, if it's a "y87" car it should have the 3.42 gear with a posi-& those clutch type posis can be rebuilt by the diy'er but its my understanding that the auburn uses cones instead of clutches-have to send those back to auburn for rebuild or buy new-anyway-check out the "tech database" on here for more info on the posi/gearing (hey vennom3300-see where you checked the rpo codes-huh-rare i guess? cool)

nope some were produced with it w/o the y87.... but not according to gm lol

correct- no G80=no lsd

check ur codes, just bc u dont have y87 doesnt mean u dont have 3.42, lsd or both

well older cars and carburetors I know a little about but the newer cars I am really weak on so, you know alot more about the newer ones then me! thanks once again

yeah, ya can't always trust the gm book keepers-they said for years that the first gen monte carlos(my other car) NEVER came with a 4 speed manual...gee, they were wrong again-lol ...kinda reminds me of our trustworthy(smell the sarcasam) government, who, if you believe the hype, are currently running gm-lol
