How can I tell if a torsen posi unit is a series 2 or 3? The one I bought when I broke my rear end, happened to be a little bit bigger then my previous unit...the guy said it was a series 3, but I am not so sure...I never ended up using it because it was supposed to be an Eaton and it wasnt....so I want to sell the unit, but I want to be able to tell people 100% what they are buying...is there anyways I can verify 100% if this is a series 2 or series 3 carrier?

Re: series 2 or series 3??
I looked at those pics, and mine looks the same...but I am not sure if the series 2 and 3 look the same...I was hoping a measurement or something could confirm it 100%, or maybe a serial code or something...
To boot, it looks like the broken torsen I pulled out...only difference is this on is slightly bigger...

I have a Torsen differential that starts with the numbers 9032 or 9022. Which differential is it?

Re: series 2 or series 3??
It was on the side of the housing lol. I sold it to bonemaro already though, maybe he can take it a picture for you?
Mine was right on the outside of the housing, very easy to find.

Re: series 2 or series 3??
I think it is the same spline count 28. Just the carrier is different for higher gears.Last edited by ssms5411; 12-25-2009, 02:34 AM.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
