Welcome. I dont want anyone to go through the hell I did.
And again your bearings may be fine. Might just need axles.
Are you leaking any oil from the seals?
nope, nothing
if i am taking the axles out, i might as well replace the bearings. My car has almost 150,000 miles on it, so i think i should do a bit of preventative work on it.
when your axle was damaged, what did it sound like?
Mine sounds like really loud road noise, or rusty rotors/drums grinding against the brake pad/shoe
it seems to be the loudest at around 25-35mph, but it is pretty loud on the highway

I tried to find my original thread that had me attmpting to explain the noise, bot no avail. Mine was like a whiiiiir whiiir whiiiiir, mine was loudest around 40 I think. I still get some harmonics around 65 though :(
Also think of this; if your axle is worn then it will ride at an angle. Which will cause your rotor to ride at an angle to your pads. This is why I wasted $60 on a new caliper.
hey guys, i finally got around to doing my axles today, and i found my noise:
the passenger side axle was pitted pretty bad, the drivers side looked a tiny bit worn, but since i bought two used axles, i just used both.
the car is so quiet now, its amazing.
i bought NAPA bearings (they are torrington bearings, which are the same as the gm ones... and also made by timkin) and i bought some gm seals, they were only $12 each, which isnt out of line, and from what i hear about other seals (timkin) i didnt want to mess with having to take it back apart again.
i was a bit mad because my cheap harbor freight bearing puller i bought for my pilot bushing snapped so i had to rent a slide hammer from advance
somehow my spider gears fell out so i had to spend a few minutes trying to figure out how they go back in as i have zero differential knowledge
thanks for the help though, im glad the problem is fixed
