ever since my turbo install its seems like my tranny doenst want to lock up in 4th gear. like when im on the highway its will stay in forth but like not locked up so the rpm's are high. if i give it just the right amount of gas it will lock up but ill be constantly accelerating slowly, and if i let off it will kick back out. Has this happened to any of you? Is it anything i can tune to make make it go right? i have hp tuners. thanks!

Re: 4th gear in an a4
look at that table and play with the lockup/release speeds the further you go to the right, the columns are for throttle position...maybe just take your first lockup number and stretch it a little further right if you want it to stay locked.
Basically pick where you want it locked and where you want it unlocked and take a quick scan of the normal throttle position you have when driving the car...if you don't normally go over 15% throttle at those pts, then just cover that.
I can't really tell you what you will like, transmission tuning points are based on preference of the user.
I personally have my lockup occur at the shift point...I never feel the converter lock up because it happens with the shift...

Re: 4th gear in an a4
Make sure your not mistaking it for turbo lag if it is not shifting right. The turbo will take some time to spool up, what PSI are you seeing in each gear? and what RPM? Also might look into a Transgo shift kit to help make fimer shifts and up the line pressure, th en you can fine tune it with shift propeties.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: 4th gear in an a4
ok thanks ssmms, the part im talking about is like at cruiseing speeds when i've been at the speed for a while. like if im going down the highway at like 60 it never has that last rpm drop like it used to. but if i give it the slighest bit of gas < just right i can get it to lock in but then im accelerating a little biit and when i let off if goes out again. sometimes i can feel it wanting to go in , like it almost goes in but doesnt but it will do it repeatly for like 15 sec. its annoying for highway driving.
and for the transgo shift kit, i already have one and a corvette servo too just haven't put them in yet but i will soon.
Thanks for the help!Last edited by mtscorvette; 04-05-2010, 06:06 PM.

Re: 4th gear in an a4
ok i tried tunning the tcc lockup tables i changed the normal and performance ones. i lowered the speeds for 4th apply and 4th release but it doesn't seem to make any difference. i checked the fluid and it not low or anything. im not really sure what it can be. its not runiing bad or anything just annoying whil cruiesing on the highway. Thanks everyone!

Re: 4th gear in an a4
Might be the trans slipping, might try a shift kit but make sure the line pressure is stock on Hptuners if you adjusted it and all the lock up functions since the trans go will up the line pressure and apply more on lockup. Shift properties is fine though, to mess with mine are at .200 across the board on normal and performance, thanks to 97RS4life helping me.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: 4th gear in an a4
Try putting the TCC duty cycle setting Minimum to 99% and the max to 100%.Last edited by bigbrian442; 04-08-2010, 11:48 PM.sigpic
