1st gear only

im new at this and i just got a 95 camaro for my first car and ever since we got it we had a problem switching from 1st gear to second. my car is an automatic so it should switch on its own but to go to second gear from 1st i have to let go of the accelerator when its supposed to switch gears and it will switch when your foot is off the accelerator and when it switchs you can hit the accelerator and all the other gears will switch by themseves like usuall. so whats the problem with this

does it just sit on red line if you dont let off?

yea it will redline but eventually it will shift but it takes a while

Sounds like the 1-2 shift solenoid is going bad or the servo for the 2/4th gear band.

i have a question...my first gear seems really fast, but my second gear is like jesus slow. I have been in a manual and it seems like the 2nd gear is smaller. My auto just seems to slug after first into second any ideas?

M5 and A4 gearing is different, A4 has a better final OD than a M5 so the M5 is geared lower so it will seem like it shifts faster. Get a Trans-go shift kit and Vette servo and it will spice things up for your auto, esp. with 3.73 gears. Hptuners will help alot too, with no TQ Mang. and setting up shift properties. A A4 setup right will be quicker than a M5 anyday of the week and more consistant on the strip.
