  • Is my transmission screwed?

So today while at work I get the call that my mother is in pain due to her blood pressure and that her leg was locked up and that she needed to be picked up so I jump in my car and head over to the location and as i'm zipping in and out of traffic trying to avoid all these trucks and construction zones we have in Colorado Springs I noticed my car was like having troubles trying to shift gears at around 40-50mph. I'm not so sure if it was me or if it was the car. Tonight ill give it a go on I25 and take it up to 80mph and see what happens.

It didn't throw a code or anything in fact it ran as fine as it normally does. We drove it home and still nothing.

The transmission was replaced back in late 2007, in my opinion that shop did a terrible job as my drive shaft popped out because of how terrible they did a job on it and on top of that I had a computer issue in mid 2008 with the transmission again. They fixed it and it runs fine. Thank god I didn't have to pay them anything. But this issue does remind me a lot of the problem I had in 2008 with the computer.

Now I will admit I've raced it quite a few times now. Been on cruises and things of that nature however its been well over a month since I've beatin on it and it runs very well. I mean this car has always started up and runs great and strong. The only time is ever given me a problem is when something seriously goes wrong like my fuel pump when it died on the road but otherwise it has run very well. Every weekend I do take it from Southern Colorado Springs to the northren part by the Air Force academy.

We had the trans replaced at 108k and the car currently has 125k now. Could it be time for a new transmission already? Or is this some type of other issue.

If it does my plans are is to park the car and let it sit for a year while I find a complete LS1 or LT1 donor car so I can get all the suspension and brakes and everything I need to keep this car on the road. It would really suck though cause I don't have the money right now to fix it due to the fact I've dumpped in quite a lot already.

Could have just been hot. Check the fluid level and color, make sure those are ok first. Could just be something simple.

What do you mean by having trouble shifting gears? Was it slipping or just didn't try to shift when you felt like it should?
I think the TCC locks up around 40 or 50mph, maybe you were just noticing it more than usual for some reason.
