  • Best Performance Flywheel?

:banana:I have a question. Who makes the best 3.8 Series II V-6 with the Tremec T-5 on the '95-'02 F-bodies? I am in the process of changing the clutch, and am wondering if the stock one will keep up with the Centerforce street clutch. Any help is appreciated.

Stock is fine for a flywheel, just grab a new one for $120.

Just get a factory replacemet one and they can be had for less then $120.

The T5 will grenade it self well before a flywheel will.

That'd be the optimism of the day...

upgrading a flywheel to a light weight one is a very big waste of money.

you might save a couple lbs....but think about it this way....to shave 1 tenth off of a 1/4 mile you need to drop 100 lbs

lightweight flywheels are not intended to save weight on the car, they are intended to reduce the rotational weight of the engine.

I would think having a lighter flywheel in a 3700 pound car would just eat a clutch pretty quick. Could be wrong though.

Lighter flywheel means more HP and the motor will rev more freely.

lighter flywheels will not increase horsepower nor torque.

since it is lighter, it wont store as much energy as a stock flywheel, so more gas is needed to get going.

the only benefit a lighter flywheel has is it will allow the engine to rev up quicker

Well it doesn't technically "increase" hp, but car will accelerate faster.

somewhat, but since it doesnt store as much energy, more throttle is needed to get the car going, having the same driving habits will cause the car to bog down when letting the clutch out, but in gear, it certainly will accelerate faster
