trans out in 4 hours by my self, slave cylinder change
so i took out my trans in 4 hours for a slave cylinder change haha and i did it by myself so i think thats pretty good time for a 17 year old by himself and only my second time taking it out.
and do these ware patterns for a few thousand miles look right
Re: trans out in 4 hours by my self, slave cylinder change
Good job. I can't tell by the second pic its too dark, is that the pressure plate? I would assume duralast products are ok because they have a lifetime warranty. I bought a dorman slave cylinder and I have no problems.
IMO it is, after all of my slave problems i would only go with a NAPA or gm slave.
the one that came with my clutch kit took a dump (well the TO bearing did) and my $75 advance auto one doesnt work well and my clutch has been slipping for over a year now
Re: trans out in 4 hours by my self, slave cylinder change
Nice...
I am about to do it too... I have done a few times but haven't done it in seriously 4-5 years.
Actually came on to get my parts list finalized and ordered and in the mail.
As for the slave cylinder, its a crapshoot. Some were cool with autozone/advanced stuff, some weren't. I personally am going with AC delco(not that its that great) I believe GM upgraded the original one a certain year, or that was the master, I can't remember it was so long ago. Either way with duralast being $75 I'd go better.
At the same time, you are young and in highschool, and it isn't the end of the world if your car is down a few days, and you can get the tranny out pretty easily, so I wouldn't sweat it too much.
Either way I am going to do master, slave, clutch, flywheel, throw out and input shaft bearings.
Re: trans out in 4 hours by my self, slave cylinder change
I have to yank out my A4 transmission, no idea what kind of task that will be, from what i hear, i should be able to do it alone.
Wait, Is that a V6 or V8? 1990 Chevrolet C-K 1500 series 4.3L .. 5spd
1994 JDM Euno Roadster 1.8L 5spd Bolt Ons.. etc 2000 Camaro 3.8L Auto Bolt Ons..etc
Re: trans out in 4 hours by my self, slave cylinder change
yeah well if i had a good job and all i would put the best of the best but when you in highschool u do what you can but yeah doing all of that stuff at once sounds easy and yes i would do the read main to since there all in that one little area
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
