Which brand of fluid to use?

Hey guys, doing my t5 swap swap finally this friday and was wondering what fluid do you guys use? also what type and how much. I been seeing mixed things with how much quarts it takes to full up. Is it really 3.4 quarts? I also wanted to know if the b&m trick shift fluid is good cuz i been seeing it alot @ autozone..

Dextron III, forget how much but haynes manual will have it. 3 and half seems right

thanks..i know about Dextron III...but theres nothing special that anyone uses like a synthetic kinda something?

I use Valvoline Dextron VI which is synthetic, but mines a A4 but I don't think it matters,
you could try it.

You could throw in some Lucas Oil Additive. I use it in mine and I feel like it offers me more protection than just fluid.

I forgot about Locas additive, use to use it on oil changes etc. Good stuff.

slowside is this the lucas your talking about cuz i see theres more than one....also would it matter if thats semi-synthetic?

if theres no royal purple there tomorrow ill be getting those ^

also if anyone is interested in the b&m trick shift fluid...i read up bad things about it on ls1tech..but that was in autos..dont really wanna take a chance in a t5

I have used Lucas oil additive before , works well, esp. with high mileage vehicels.

If you're using additives, a PolyDyn is your best bet IMO.

I used Advance auto brand Dextron III It meets the standards, and I replace stuff before it goes bad.

so i while i was looking for fluid today i was wondering whats the difference between dexron and dextron and why make the name soo similar to confuse people!? >:O

I used the same stuff you used. Mobil 1, so hopefully good stuff. Nothing wrong so far, about 10k miles now.
