Hey guys I have a quick question my mom has a Cavalier, and when you first crank the car up in the morning the car won't go into drive you have to wait until the car warmed up before it will kick into gear, either that or rev it until it goes into drive. Eventually later in the day it'll start to act right..... What's going on? Dos it need a fluid change or some thing or is the tranny gone?
Assuming you've checked the fluid level, I would look closer at the fluid. If it's black and burned, and hasn't been flushed before, it should get done. And if it's all red and smells like ATF should, I would say some aspect of the transmission itself.
