  • Purchased a v8 Rear end for my v6 HELP

I own a 2000 Firebird and one of the first upgrades I wanted to do was go from the crappy 3.08 gears to something higher with Limited Slip. So after looking into it I determined the most affordable route was to buy an entire rear end from a car. So I did.

I purchased a rear from a 1995 Trans Am with discs in the rear and Limited Slip.

However upon doing some more research apparently the hub sizes changed between the years so the wheels wont fit without modification. Can I use this rear end with my hub so that I can use my late model wheels without modification to the old hub?

Also the rear brakes are bigger on my model. 12inch. Is there a way to get these brakes on the rear end?

I feel really dumb because I don't think im going to be able to use this rear end...

I just wanted posi and slightly better gears than 3.08... without hurting my car. Can I make this rear end happen?

Yours stock is a 4 channel and the one you got is a 3 channel. Not gonna work, should of just bought the gears and install kit and had someone install your new gears. Also the axles are different from 1995 and 2000 thats why the hubs are diffferent. I would sell it and get the right one.
