  • Rear End Noise Update

Well the "thumping" noise went away the day I was putting the car on the flat bed tow truck to take to the local dealer.

They inspected the underside and found nothing.

So - opened up the diff and inspected - nothing - so installed the 97 V8 axles (one year only) w/ 20mm extended lugs, new outer bearings/seals, new C-clips, and GM 80W-90 gear oil.

Also installed new 98+ 1LE Trans mount and ES Torque Arm bushing.

Changed Trans lubricant to GM 88861800 "Manual Transmission and Transfer Case Fluid" - which was changed from Dexron III ATF by GM Bulletin 04-07-30-037D in 2007.

Also installed new Overflow Coolant/Battery Tray and new Diehard battery.

Great - particularly the manual trans with the new fluid - shifts really nice. Anyone with a manual should get rid of the Dexron III ATF and use the new GM manual trans fluid.
