have your pinion shaft and gears checked. They start going bad and whine like my X.

You also might want to get your your carrier bearing looked at. Mine went bad and made a loud whinning sound. So I just got a dirve shaft from a Z28 and replaced the whole shaft.

^---gears started whining on my car a year ago

My rear end started whining about a year ago and did the same thing you're describing. I'd have to say to check the gears like hockeyman said. Of course mine was still under warenty, but I got a look at the paper I signed at the dealership ~$350 if I had to pay. If it is your gears whining, when/if you get them replaced, make sure to go light on them for the first few hunderd miles (light acceleration). Good luck with it.

Yeah, I'd have to say pinion/carrier bearings or general gear whine from slop/wear. The 2k I have whined from like 30,000 on, has 62,000 on it now, and figured I'd swap with a beefier one (Moser). If your going to be charged to have the backlash adjusted, you might want to consider a posi, since the labor isn't as cumulative as one would think, and if your in there anyway, might as well...

But before you spend any money on those things, make sure the whining isn't your girlfriend telling you to slow down LOL
