I have a 97 camaro and at higher speeds like 110km/70mph i hear this whinning sound come from the rear of my car, i was wondering if anyone could tell me wut the problem is if there is one and how i can fix it. thx

My rear end started whining about a year ago and did the same thing you're describing. I'd have to say to check the gears like hockeyman said. Of course mine was still under warenty, but I got a look at the paper I signed at the dealership ~$350 if I had to pay. If it is your gears whining, when/if you get them replaced, make sure to go light on them for the first few hunderd miles (light acceleration). Good luck with it.

Yeah, I'd have to say pinion/carrier bearings or general gear whine from slop/wear. The 2k I have whined from like 30,000 on, has 62,000 on it now, and figured I'd swap with a beefier one (Moser). If your going to be charged to have the backlash adjusted, you might want to consider a posi, since the labor isn't as cumulative as one would think, and if your in there anyway, might as well...
