  • LS6 Conversion

I was wondering if an LS6 conversion would be possible to do? Would it be harder than a LS1 conversion? What would I need to do this becides motor, and tranny? Would there need to be major cutting and changes? I'm not worried about cost just yet.
I have this wild dream of being able to say to my friends "yea its still a 6... an LS6" that and having 400hp would be nice to.

the block is essentially the same as the LS1... droppin in an LS6 should be pretty much the same as the LS1 (IMO). i havent actually checked out things like motor mounts, etc, but it uses the same tranny (T-56) so those mount are defanitely the same, and i'll bet that you can mount the engine the same as an LS1 (just b/c GM is lazy and wouldnt wanna change the way there engines are mounted for the different levels of the vette). o, and just to throw in my 2 cents... get an LS1 and put some LS6 components on the block, much cheaper than just flat out gettin the LS6. i think from GM the LS6 is about 8 Grand. personally outta my price range ;)

It is the same motor. Search in Advance Tech for "LS1 swap" TONS of info.

The only differences in the block is the LS-1 block has a concave bottom, the LS-6 is flat. The only thing you'd have to do is change the oil pan to get it to fit in an F-body, the rest is the same as the LS-1

Lots of misinformation here. The transmissions are NOT the same, you have to use a T-56 from a 98+ f-body. You also have to use a LS1 motor mount, you can get a lightweight K member from BMR to save on front end weight. The LS6 isn't worth the ton of money you'll spend on it, and buyin an LS6 kit is a waste since you can get higher performance after market parts for the same cost and smoke LS6s all day long. Unless you run into some incredible deal and get a LS6 for like $3k, just get a '01 or '02 LS1, a tranny, and all the accessories including a LS1 PCM and swap it right in.

I gave no misinformation. The tranny bolt pattern is the same as the LS-1, anyone who knows cars knows you can't use a Corvette tranny on an F-bod. You can buy a 01 or 02 LS-1 and get a CNC ported LS-6 conversion package..the whole 9 yards for under $2,500.00. This would probably be cheaper than buying an actual LS-6 and give you more horsepower, than a stock LS-6.
